Thanks for verifying my math Walter.

So Stephen, just make sure that Frame Rate in your Render Settings is set to Use comp’s frame rate and you should be good to go.

Just a quick possibility – have you confirmed that Time Span in the Render Settings is set to Length of Comp and not Work Area Only?

    Update:
Whoops, never mind. I just re-read your post where you said that the beginning and end are fine.

My next guess would be that the frame rates in your Render Settings don’t match up with your composition settings. Does the Duration in the Time Sampling window show 3:17 or 2:38?

    Further update:
A little math tells me that you probably have a 24fps comp, but are rendering it at 30fps. The render then is playing your original number of frames at a faster rate (1.25 X), so the 3:17 becomes 2:38. (197 seconds divided by 1.25 equals 158 seconds)

I received a response from Blackmagic concerning my question on audio control:

This is normal and to be expected. After installing Intensity, all video and
audio must be coming from the card. If you try to do video out of the card
and audio from the soundcard, due to being two different sources, there will
be two clocks and a/v will be out of sync. As such, both a/v need to be tied
    to the card.

So either line out of the mac or Intensity, but audio controls in Apple will
not make any adjustments on Intensity side of things.

This may not be what you wanted to hear but at least you will know why this
is the case. If you have any questions, let me know.

    Thanks for the response.

I am just a hobbyist, so I don’t know if not having RGB output capability would be missed or not. I will primarily be using the card to output FCP and AE timeline video to an external HD monitor. Will the lack of RGB output hinder this in any way?

Walter, but I posted it here because I would like responses from those who use both FCP and AE.

    Sorry if it bothers you.

June 26, 2010 at 11:47 pm in reply to: Dual monitors

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I spent several hours on the phone with multiple levels of Apple Tech support the other day and nothing they tried worked either – including trashing prefs, new administrator account, etc., etc. Though they tried to be helpful they only had one record of a similar support call, and that had no solution either. I’m getting around it by just having a blank Pages document in my Dock that I use to start a new file since saved files always open on the primary monitor. Not that big of a deal really, just annoying.

    Thanks again, Jim
