I kept my old laptop which has the FCP Legacy and other old apps that once in awhile come in handy. Also still have a vcr, analog monitor and canopus. I digitized one other tape and had no problems with that one. The problem tape described in my original post, has this light shift in about a dozen different areas, totalling about 15 minutes of affected area. The other 1 hour and 45 minutes of recorded footage is fine. Most of the problem footage is outdoors. But most of the tape was shot outdoors. As I said, viewing it on the analog monitor there is no visible problem, it’s only after it’s converted to digital that the light shift is apparent. I only have 1 vcr so I can’t try a different machine

No, this is a personal tape of a family vacation that I shot back in the mid 80s, so no copy protection involved. This light shift only happens in 4 sections of the tape, 2 outdoor and 2 indoor scenes. I want to edit this tape in Davinci Resolve and these affected sections are ones that I want to use as they have a family member who is no longer alive
