From what I understand, CUDA is a programming method that specifically uses the power of the GPU. Adobe apps are written to take advantage of Cuda enabled GPUs where Apple apps like Final cut and Motion are written using the OpenCl method. It’s not to say that OpenCl apps cannot harness the power of the GPU but Cuda is written specifically for that.

If I am incorret, please someone correct me.

The price difference is quite a bit between the two and I’m wondering if the slight difference is speed is worth it. I mainly use FCPX, Motion and Compressor so the Cuda feature on the GTX680 won’t give me a lot of benefit based on the apps I use.

What I have decided to do is give the 7950 a shot, and I am adding a Matrox Compress HD card to help speed up my h.264 processing to try and keep my machine and as responsive as possible.

Well yes, nesting is involved here as compound clip is a nest. As far as reference movies, I can see all the clips in the original project (the project that was converted to a compound clip) and a lot of those same clips are being used in other compound clips on the timeline that are not giving me issues.

Do nests (compound clips) have a history or being problematic?

No. Went straight to Blu Ray via the Share function.

To add, I deleted all render files and did the same Share to Blu Ray with the same result. What I noticed is that the video drops out at a different point in the same compound clip each time.

I did create an mov of the section in question from its original project and dropped that in place of the compound clip. That worked.

But I’m still in search of why the compound clip is behaving badly.

I know this is an old thread – but how did you make out with the Matrox HD card? I’m considering one as well and wanted some first hand feedback.
