You are a genius! Found the missing files from a working version on another computer and copied them into my Win 8 system Worked like a charm. Meanwhile I’m till waiting for Sony support to respond. Thanks for posting all the details, glad I found your post. Would be nice if Sony updated their FAQ database to include this problem. I’ve been using Vegas since Sony acquired it and remember when I could actually talk to a tech rep and they responded within a day. Guess they’re getting too big now.
