OK – I just found a shortcuts list that says option-shift-9 locks all tracks. That does the trick, just needed to know what I was looking for 🙂

I wasn’t sure of the options, but wondered if the there was a command that applied to all tracks at once, whether locking or disabling, but it seems not as I couldn’t find one on searching, but this is more detail than I’ve found, so thanks

OK I’ve worked it out now, for anyone else interested:

    1. Get the dimensions of the original eg 1080×1920

    2. In Project settings or Timeline settings window > Timeline resolution: – enter these values into the custom values fields

    3. Do the edits etc

    4. In the Deliver tab, select the preferred output eg YouTube 1080p

    5. Enter custom resolution values as per imported/setup, eg 1080×1920

    6. Render

These two setting ensure it imports and exports to the exact dimensions and orientation of the original.

OK – so there’s no way to crop it so it behaves and exports a vertical oriented clip? I have to just put up with the horizontal format as it is?

Here are the settings I’m using. First capture is the original file, the others from DR. Its only the one clip that has the banding as its of rolling fog or mist. The banding is evident on import to DR but not in the original.

I’ll look into those codecs and get back. I had no idea where to start looking as I’m learning on the run.

I’ve only just upgraded from a 2011 iMac to a 2015 MacBook Pro ☺ I will try version 15 soon to see if it works efficiently, but just in the middle of a project now. When you don’t have money you do what you can with what you have and I’m just glad this app is free as it allows me to do so much.

Thanks – I’ll review that section of the manual but at least I know what these actions are called.
