I think the ‘scale-overshoot’ makes a lot of sense.
I will use that.
Regarding the ‘text on shape’ – I would actually want the text be engulfed by a surrounding shape (kind of like a thick outline).

I will definitely try that.
Do I do that on both write-on effects that are on the layer?
(one blue write-on effect and one red write-on effect).

So far I’ve managed to find a way to get the layer to be transparent,
by putting both ‘write-on’ effects on a solid,
that had a mask with the ‘Inverted’ ticked to ‘true’ on it.
Not sure how that helped, but it caused the entire solid to be
transparent, and the blue & red lines on it to be opaque.
So that’s what I wanted, but not sure how I got to it … 🙂
