    Hello again,

I’ve found the way to do it ! And the solution is very, very simple : it is just a matter of first moving or copying the project(sequence) to a new event within the first library, and then to copy or move the event to the second library. So you have to copy/move events NOT projects .

    It’s explained in this video, watch from 6 min 30 sec to 10′ 30″ (4 very useful minutes !) : https://youtu.be/NAv89cGexIM?t=390

Thanks again Helgi and Oliver for your help !

  • Hello Helgi,

Thanks for the hint. It gives me hope ! I will check it out as soon as I can (I still have one month to find the correct workflow before we start editing in 2 separate suites) and, of course, I will post my findings here.

  • Hello Olivier,

Thanks for your quick reply ! Actually I’d just read that document before posting, and I’m doing exactly what’s described in there. I’ll have a look at that video, thanks for the link, but I doubt that it covers multicam clips, which is the problem I’m having …

  • I had just logged in to share my find with the world, only to notice you had already found this fix ! This had been driving me nuts, and the solution is so simple : copy all clips in the project with an exclamation mark, select another project, and away goes the exclamation mark !

No one having problems with this ? Or an idea of what’s causing the issue ?

Oh, yes, of course, I didn’t mean “I’m sure there has to be some kind of batch exporter” IN FCPX , I meant “I’m sure there has to be some kind of batch exporter” SOFTWARE that exists somewhere and can do that (not FCPX).

    Thanks again

Thank you Jeremy for your reply and for your thorough explanation. I think I will do it that way, it is much faster than what I did.

I’m sure there has to be some kind of batch exporter that would do this automatically. But finding it might take as much time as just doing it this way in FCPX.

    Thanks again !

I’ve also been very annoyed by this behaviour, as for me, most of the time, the whole point of match frame is to watch what’s beyond the in or out point of a clip in the timeline.

I have however found a great workaround : after hitting shift-f, I just zoom in and/or out using keyboard shortcuts – and that’s it – it will now play beyond the out (or in) point. Much faster than clearing the range , having the playhead jump to the beginning and finding your way back to where you were.

[Andy Branner] “[David Powell] “You can’t stabalize a clip, you can’t do optical flow […] and you can’t even do noise reduction”

Interesting. Didn’t know they were selling different versions. One where you can (me) and one where you can’t (you). Live and learn.

I think what he means – and what annoys everyone – is that you can’t do it in the Timeline. Of course you can do most things in the angle editor. The problem being that this is an extra step every time you do anything. Also when you “open in angle editor” it doesn’t go to the frame you were on in the multiclip, which is a nightmare for me since I work with multiclips that are up to 2 hours long. So it’s really 4 extra steps : skimming to see the original TC, opening in angle editor, go to right timecode, do what you have to do, then back out of the angle editor – actually 2 more steps – a total of 6 ! – (2 blade cuts) if you need to isolate the clip, for example to stabilize it). This would be one step if one could stay in the timeline and edit the multiclip straight away.

It’s a shame this thread turned into a “is multicam in X good or not” thing, which doesn’t reaaly go anywere. I thought it would be more of an opportunity to discuss different methods of working with multicam in X in its current state, when, like me, you get customer feedback consisting of a list of preferred shots and their TC. To me, using the method I described earlier, this is much slower than it used to be in FCP 7 , mainly because of the lack of correct match framing. So really, most of the time I gain syncing and preparing shots for multicam – compared to doing it in FCP7 – is lost later in the process. But maybe there’s another way ?

    Hi jacob,

Yes, it is indicating that multiple clips are selected.

Well, I just tried it again and couldn’t reproduce the issue this time. It now works as expected. Effects get deleted on all selected clips. Very strange ! I’m either going crazy or they are sometimes strange things going on with multi clips … Thanks for your answer anyway.
