Excellent, after some tinkering around with Nesting and lowering the frame rate the lightning is moving much more naturally now. Definitely more appealing to my eyes. I had noticed before that when I rendered a small video at half the frame rate that the lightning was moving at a more desirable speed, but I did not want to lower my frame rate for my entire comp for obvious reasons. Nesting was the perfect answer.
Thanks for the great help once again Dave.

Excellent that worked perfectly. When I ignore the alpha channel the foreground and background are both visible and there is no lines in my animation. I just hope when I really want that alpha channel this doesn’t come up again, but that is for another day! Now I just need to figure out why my .swf files eat up all my ram.

Thanks for the great help Steve, let me know if I can render you up a beer for your troubles 🙂

In response to Ben, unfortunately changing the blending option of the layer did not correct the problem. It changed the color of the line but little else. In my comp view I have to set the channel view to RGB Straight to see both the background and foreground. Is that normal?

In response to Dave, that is a very good thought. I did not however plan to use this on NTSC devices, although I probably should have, so the framerate default of 30 is correct for my render.

Thanks again for the reply’s. I’ll have to render up some beers for you guys later!

That sounds like a possibility. I’ll have to look in to that when I get a chance. Here is a link to a frame of the video if that helps at all.
