AFAIK, the RedRock and the Letus do not have a 5.5x factor of magnification.
If you use something like the Adaptimax or MTF lens mount (mounting a 35mm lens directly to the EX3) THEN you get a 5.5x magnification of the lens (100mm = 550mm). Like the other poster said, the RR or Letus adapters create a ground glass focal plane (?) that the lens image is projected upon and the camera lens focuses on that. You do need to zoom the camera in to 75-80 range to focus on the ground glass and clear the edges. I use the Letus Elite and it works just great. I’ve used 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm lenses and they look great.
Be mindful that their claim of “virtually noise-free” is a stretch in my opinion if you ever did want to use on-camera mics (quite possible in documentary situations, I would guess). They produce a very slight buzzing sound that the mics pick up. -
You can get some decent Canon FD lenses pretty cheap since they do NOT work on current digital cameras. If you go that route, you’d only be able to use them on your adapter. Be wary of the Canon SSC lenses (with the silver twist-lock ring) as I saw some play (looseness) when used on the Letus Canon mount. The regular Canon bayonet(?) mount lenses were solid when I used them. Seems like most folks go for Nikon glass with 35mm adapters, though.

That sort of looks like some errors we used to experience with large files being saved across a network with Photoshop. There is not a good way to fix that issue once it happens as the file/image/data is corrupted. We solved the problem at the time by copying the large TIFFs/PSDs locally, working them, and then copying them back to the server. Could it be a similar issue with your network/server, perhaps?

I also got the Gliders brace after reading a certain good review and it has exactly the same problem you describe. The main pivot point will not get tight enough for any camera (EX3 or DVX100A). I tried to get the mounting screw out of the brace so I could add a rubber gasket/washer or something but even with a seemingly large amount of pressure it would not budge and seemed on the verge of breaking the brace. Anyone have any idea how that screw mounts into the brace? I’m tempted to drill it out and replace it so I can actually get it tight. That said, it has a few other flaws in my opinion (except that price is so nice!): the monopod for the waist/hip is not nearly long enough. It rests right on my middle abdomen which means my breathing moves the camera. It should, I think, rest right on my hip bone area. Also the screw that mounts the camera to the brace should have “sprockets” on it instead of being just a round knurled knob — too hard to get a good grip on it right now and it is a tight space.

I just got the Kata 197 bag for the EX3 and it is the softbag that (at this point) works best for me after looking at the 195 (a hair too small) and the Portabraces (meh.) I’m coming from a custom-built hard case so I’m getting over the lack of individual compartments for everything, but the 197 is doing the trick just fine. I might custom build a tray and/or some additional subdividers to make it work a bit better since the shape of the EX3 creates wasted space in most any case that I’ve personally seen. I recommend the Kata 197.

Hmm… it is getting full, down to about 6 gigs left on the system drive (MBP). I’ll clean it out and try again. The video clips play with no problem whatsoever from Quicktime so it appears to be strictly an FCP issue.
