Can you email me one of the proxy files you created that plays back at 7fps as well as a piece of the original footage? If it is too big, use a file delivering service such as yousendit.com. I would like to try it on my machine to see what is going on.

You will want to make your proxy files (in Gearshift) a lower rez. It sounds like you are converting to avi uncompressed or some form of avi with minimal compression- of course if you use the cineform intermediary then your file sizes will be large.

Your original source footage is showing as Xvid. This may not play well with Vegas. Do you have any other version of source footage to work with? Xvid is highly compressed and you can encounter the render issue you did with such footage.
As for the black bars, your preview window is a different size than your source footage. This may be the culprit (although the left side looks to be a different issue but I can’t tell if that is something in the shot or an issue with the footage).

I would duplicate the object (lowering the opacity and probably feather) and make it so that it is a child of the main widescreen rectangle so that it follows the same path. This way you are dealing with an actual object and it behaves as such.

In your camera OSD options, you should be able to choose an output format or a downconvert format. Make sure these settings are set appropriately for how you are trying to capture.
I would say it appears that your firewire port on the cam has shorted out, but it appears that is not the case due to the fact that you can control the cam via Vegas.
What settings are you using for pushing the footage from the camera to the PC?

1. Please answer my questions above so I can help you better.
2. What are you rendering out to in the trial of Vegas 8pro- you should not be capable of producing mpg video streams so what did you import into DVDA? If you are using another file format such as avi, then DVDA has to recompress. I am unsure if the platinum version does this or not (as I don’t own it) and that may be your problem.
Answering my questions above would greatly help aide me in helping you.

What site? I would recommend buying from someone like http://www.bhphotovideo.com or http://www.tigerdirect.com. You can also look up reviews (via google) for the site in question. If you are concerned about viruses, you may want to trust your gut and go elsewhere.

Well, what DVD player are you using? Is it older? What media are you using for discs?
I would like to be able to help but I really can’t unless you give more details. You say it will play on your computer but not on the stand alone unit. Have you tried it on other DVD players?
I used to use Nero several versions ago to burn as opposed to DVDA but now I just burn straight from DVDA.
What are the output streams you are using for video? For audio?
Can you give some more details?
