Can you post an example of what FCP does with it and what Vegas does with the same footage with P&C?

If all you are wanting to do is normalize, just right click on the event (if you want to do all events on the current track- right click and choose select events to end) and hit the “h” key and then the “n” key. This will normalize the event that is selected (or events that are selected).

I do not have the consumer version of Vegas, but I believe it has the functions I will refer to below.
You will want to utilize a track above the one that contains your main footage. On the track above is where you will place the book cover or picture or whatever you like. On the event itself you will find a pan/crop tool icon on the top right hand side of the event. Click it. There you can resize and drag it to the area of the viewing area on which you want it to reside.

Yes.

The way I speak of above, you shorten one event and lengthen the other to butt it against the first one you moved.
However, here is a secret- if you are still in multicam mode, hover over where the two events meet and hold down the CTRL and the ALT keys- your cursor should change and then you can click and drag and both events will move whichever way you move your mouse (one will shorten and one will lengthen).
Don’t tell anybody 🙂

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are asking. You are not wanting to replace a cam 1 take with a cam 2 take (which is what I was referencing). It sounds like you are wanting to adjust the timing of when the edit goes from cam 1 to cam 2. If this is correct, then simply pull the edge of the event over towards the one next to it. It will move the cut over and adjust the timing of the cut.
If that is not what you are asking, please explain.

What size resolution are your pics? They could very well be the problem. Try converting them to png files and resizing them to the output resolution unless you are doing zooms on the pictures. If you are zooming, depending on how much you zoom, you will want to make the resolution a little larger than the final output resolution so that it can zoom in and not get pixelated.
Also, sometimes fx cause issues. I used a black and white fx (non-sony) in one of my projects and it would just dissappear from the screen. I finally figured out it the the fx. I changed the black and white fx to the sony black and white fx and all was well.

Sure. If you right click on a take (event) on the timeline there is an option for “take” If you hover over it, it will give you options for choosing a different take. Let me know if this isn’t clear. I am not in front of my workstation at the moment.

It really depends on the player, the TV and how you edited and encoded your footage. There are a lot of factors in there. Some Hollywood DVDs I have don’t look as good on my HDTV with an upconverting player while others look decent- but nothing compared to BluRay.

What is your project made up of? Picture files? Non Sony FX?
