    Hi Shane,

Thanks for the advice. It should have occurred to me that rendering footage that has already been compressed and formatted by another program would have problems and crappy pixelated results.

I would prefer to just complete the project in Premiere. (I’m working with the CS4 version) The reason I hopped into FCP is because I’m having difficulty exporting completed projects from premiere. It works ok with rendering short HD clips but when I try to export the entire 23minute project the export crashes giving me the “unknown error compiling movie” message. I looked deeper into the error message and it said something about “source duration time out” and “insufficient source duration.” I interpreted this initially as it didn’t like writing the export to the external hard drive but when I switched to the regular hard drive the same thing happened again so I’m not sure what to think. I’d love to hear any ideas as to what might be causing this crash and suggestions for fixing it.

    Thanks again!

  • The card is a Nvidia GeForce GT 120 256 MB; it looks like I might need to upgrade >.<
Adobe apparently suggests a GeForce 8800 GS.

The drivers are updated and I did install the CUDA that apparently supports the card, but didn’t help the issue.

Does anyone have a graphics card suggestion other than the one mentioned above?

    Specs:
    iMac OSX 10.7.2
Processor: 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 256 MB

  • Thanks for all your help and the link to the awesome tutorial. I’m now an alpha channel Tiff mixing fiend! 😛

  • Thanks for responding! I’m going to try the photoshop work around.

I also tried exporting as .png but FCP wouldn’t accept the format. Gave me a file error message. Is there a way for FCP to accept PNG’s???

As to the alpha channel I can’t find anything in illustrator that says alpha channel. Where’s that lil bugger located?

    Thanks again!

April 8, 2009 at 7:35 pm in reply to: running footage backwards

    Hi all,

just go CS4 so i’m pretty new to all this. I’m trying to run some footage backwards in premiere pro and i saw the post that said to put the speed to -100 but it won’t let me do that and since the original post was from 2005 i’m guessing its works differently now. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
