Wow I was actually just thinking about how to animate the cylinder and was thinking a spline would work. Now I know it will thanks. I’m a complete beginner btw, thanks for all your help!
I don’t know much about express but have watched a bunch of tutorials. and some searches. People are points towards xpresso and point nodes. Ive been playing around with it but had no luck. Any chance you could give me some pointers on what inputs to what and/or what parameters I would use for this? there so many parameters that aren’t so obvious to what they are…any info would help.
I’m probably going to remodel the diamond to separately so I wont have this problem but it would still be nice to know how to do what I’m asking for future reference…thanks again!

It will go all the way around the diamond. I’m using Point level animation to move the diamond So I’d like to make the cylinder the child of specific points on the diamond so they can follow as it extends and retracts.

I’m not sure what the issue was but after deleting my key frames the issue went away… Now I have a different issue I’m trying to figure out how parenting to points or polygons for animation? I made another topic for this so I hope it posts soon

I’ve never had this issue before, but all the points I extrude seem to move to this little grey square as seen in the picture. I’ve just extruded…everything seems fine…then eventually if I go back it will do whats shown in the picture. If I rotate the whole model and do the extrude again…the whole model will rotate back to this position with the points attached to this square.
Its not show in the picture but some times there’s dot (sometimes green, white..) on each side of the square.
