Yes, the Mac Pro port is only 8 bit, which doesn’t always matter for monitoring.
For what it’s worth though, I use the Mini Monitor with a Mac Pro and Yosemite every day and have zero issues.with stuttering and dropped frames.

I can say in my case it was an endless loop trying to render the standard FCPX cross fade. Turning of background render obviously stopped rendering and thus stopped the loop but a manual render would also loop once it hit that one dodgy transition.
As has been said, cutting and pasting the entire project seemed to fix it. It is possible that I did create a new project to paste into but I don’t remember doing that – I think I just pasted back into the existing one.

I had this happen in a project this week. A constant loop doing a background render. Deleting the render files didn’t help. From memory, I selected all, cut it from the timeline (cd-x), deleted all render files, then pasted the timeline back.
I suspect a bug.

FCPX will create a final file based on your project settings, however if you don’t switch from proxy back to original / optimised media the output will be based on upscaled quarter res proxy files, not the full-res original footage.

I would have thought the only time FCPX is going to optimise AVCHD media is if your project format doesn’t match the footage – in which case it’s going to render to ProRes in the background.

The XA10 only records AVCHD. If you can see the files from the finder but not FCPX then maybe try resetting FCPX’s preferences?
In any event, copying the files to a folder and importing from there should work.

And Jeremy’s right. I think the only thing that’s going to be capable of actually writing to a disc will be Sony’s software.

Not quite sure what your asking but are you switching both audio and video when you’re cutting? Then set the primary audio in the angle editor and use the icons at the top of the multicam viewer to choose to just switch the video.
Or is something else happening?

Are you connecting cameras or cards? I’m assuming you’re using the XA10 internal memory to record on?
If you can see the files from the desktop have you tried copying them out into a folder and importing from there? Does FCPX not see the camera or just not see the content?
if the camera can play the files then worst case scenario is that you’ll have to play them out via the HDMI port, which I’ve had to do once when a card corrupted in mine.

I have no idea why it’s happening but check the Properties of the encoding preset yo chose in Compressor and change as needed. At worst, create you own preset that matches whatever it is your burning application expects.
You can also grab something like the media-info app to check that the format of the output file to confirm where in the process it’s changing to 1080i.
Is there a reason not to get FCPX output as a bluray disc image, then burn the image from the PC?
