Exactly! Just read what you wrote. You are attempting to paste an object into a locked layer. You should be able to unlock the layer and then paste it into the layer. If you don’t know how to unlock a layer, best of luck to you.

If I understand you correctly, you just have to hold down the mouse button and drag as you create the points. This will pull out the handles and give you a smooth curve.

Thanks RIchard. I guess I didn’t think of a web catalog or anything. I’m old school! Hell, just plan old!
Yeah. I think I’ve talked them into new monitors that I can calibrate and that should help. Once we upgrade, I’ll do that. (Plus many of our printers are in China and that is another whole series of problems!)
What do you know about LCD vs CRT monitors for graphic design? Are CRT monitors still a lot better for color?
Thanks again. Your always a big help!

Well Rich, I stated clearly in my post if was for catalog work. What’s the point of me typing all this in if you are not going to read it? (kidding)
Anyway, I always have a problem getting skin tone to look natural. You see, all I’ev got is a old view sonic monitor and a color laser printer, neither do I trust. I’m working hard to get the place I work for to upgrade all there monitors but until them, I need help.
I love to use the numbers (cymk values) rather then what appears on the screen. I just don’t have a handle on skin tones. What I’ve been doing is finding a photo from our catalog that has similar skin tones and use those values but thats too time consuming.
It would be nice to have something to use as a guide.

Hey, I wasn’t joking. Fold up an 81/2 by 11 into the tri fold you want. Mark it and then unfold it. You have you template. Set up the pannels in illustrator exactly the same. On a 8 1/2 by 11, don’t worry about gutters in between the panels. I was in printing for years and use to set up these all the time and that’s how we use to do it. The only bleed you have to worry about is outside the sheet itself and a 8th of an inch will do.

Fold a piece of paper the way you want it. Write 1, 2, 3 etc on each panel, unfold. Done. Sometimes a little extra is given on the last panel but that’s optional.

Just a thought but the simple solution to this (at least on a Mac) is just to change it. Take you document name Blah.com and change it to Blah.psd. As far as I know (at least on the Mac) the extention is just a reference for the computer to open the Doc in the right program. By putting .com and the end did not change you document at all. You can not save a photoshop Document as word file. I can’t happen.

Try playing around with halftone patterns and gradients.

You can go up to the Image pulldown menu/mode/Index color. There you can pick the amount of colors but I can’t guarantee you’ll like the results.
The best Idea is to redraw is in Illustrator, or even in photoshop. If it’s not to complex, you could use the magic wand to isolate each color.
Best of luck

I am not an tech guy but a graphics guy but do use a mac on a PC network and our IT guys have it running wonderfully. I don’t think cursing Apple for problems which you don’t usderstand if fair. If you are working for a large company have them get someone in there who knows what the heck they are doing.
