Not sure if that link will work but that’s a screenshot of my timeline.
Top is voice – bottom is music.
Wow – I typed up some other info when I was creating that file – not sure where it went?
Wow – I don’t have time to redo what I wrote right now – I’ll try to rewrite it later.
Thanks

January 15, 2018 at 7:58 pm in reply to: Sound envelopes using the blue line sound adjustment . . .I was out of the office so I couldn’t respond till now.
I can’t get the image of my soundtrack to upload. File type not supported. I took a screenshot and saved it in word but it won’t upload. I”ll try to get it in there later – right now I am tied up but I am not monitoring my output. I guess I need to learn to do that.
How do I do that?
There is the bus in the upper right corner of Movie Studio and it’s about 20% from the top of the measuring indicator – if that helps.
the sliders of the voice track is set to 0.0 and for the music track 0.0.
Sorry, I’m not being able to upload the screenshot.
I know you are trying to help. Hopefully, I can get the screenshot in there later when I’m free.

January 14, 2018 at 11:02 pm in reply to: Sound envelopes using the blue line sound adjustment . . .I should have also mentioned – the music track – the music came from youtube – the channel where they have the royalty free music, and then also SmartSounds.
As you prob know, you just download the music and then add it into the editing software.

January 14, 2018 at 10:44 pm in reply to: Sound envelopes using the blue line sound adjustment . . .Regardless – the sound as heard when in the software editing does not correlate to the level when the video is burned to a disc or a drive.
Right now – I am going over the video, listening to how loud or low the sound is on the video file that I burned, and then simultaneously I have the project open in Sony Movie Studio and adjusting the blue line up or down accordingly. However, I’m only guessing how much to adjust the blue sound level line as when I move the blue sound level line slightly there is no discernable difference that can be heard. Only if I move the blue sound level line A LOT is there a perceptible difference in the sound level.

January 14, 2018 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Sound envelopes using the blue line sound adjustment . . .Maybe the reason I have to turn the sound on the music track down is that I also have a track for my voiceover?
I.e. – I could not hear my voice too well so I think that’s why I turned the blue line level thingy down near the bottom for the music track.
I left the blue line thingy right in the middle for my voice track.
Is there a name for that blue line? Sound level line I guess might be what it’s called?

January 14, 2018 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Sound envelopes using the blue line sound adjustment . . .I sense I am about to learn something.
Not sure what you mean but I use a Insignia Universal lapel mic that I bought for $50 at Best Buy.
It plugs into my camcorder – Canon Vixia hv40. I don’t set the sound – I just speak and the sound gets recorded onto the Mini dv tape.
Of course – I then capture the sound into my computer and edit it. So there is no measurement per se at that point.
The slider on the left side that controls the volume – I set to 0.
I hope that is the info you needed to know.

October 3, 2017 at 5:20 am in reply to: Is there a way to turn off, “lock” switch on multiple clips all at the same time?Excellent! That works!
I have a project that is about two hours long and broke it up into twenty minute segments so the clips would be less likely to get out of position. They get out of position when I am adding clips in, tacking clips out etc. Yes – I know about auto ripple but clips sometimes still get moved around unintentionally.
Now, I can just lock them all in place, but if I need to add something in – simply do ctrl a and turn the switch off.
I tried it and that works.
Thanks so much!

OK thanks – I understand what you are saying now – going to the better chroma key software is not the answer – going to the 4.2.2 camcorder is the answer.
Your information has been very enlightening and solves a mystery. All along – I thought it was my fault due to lighting and so I kept changing the lighting around. I think my lighting is pretty good and the issue most likely was the lowly 4.2.0.
This has been a good piece of information to know!

I just noticed, Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 has some Hitfilm integrations so it looks like Hitfilm might work with Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13. I only took a quick look but will study this further.
Adding a HitFilm project to the timeline
You can add HitFilm projects to your Movie Studio Platinum project in the same way you add other media files: simply add the HitFilm project (.hfp) file to your project.
For more information, see “Adding media files to your project.”
OpenAdding HitFilm effects to an event
1.Right-click the video event where you want to add the effects and choose Add HitFilm Effect from the shortcut menu.
A HitFilm project (.hfp) file is created in the folder where your media file is saved using the same base name as your media file, and the event’s active take is updated to use the HitFilm project file. For more information, see “Using takes as alternate versions of events.”
If you have multiple events selected, the event under the mouse pointer is used.
2.HitFilm Express starts so you can edit your HitFilm effects as necessary.
For more information about using HitFilm Express, please refer to its documentation.
3.When you’re finished editing, save your HitFilm project and close HitFilm Express. The event’s active take is updated with the edited version of your HitFilm project.
OpenEditing HitFilm effects on an event
1.Right-click a video event that is using a HitFilm project (.hfp) as its active take and choose Edit in HitFilm from the shortcut menu.
