For an ESPN SportsCenter look, shoot in HDV HD-60P and pair it with the 1280x720x59.94p settings.
For a look more like film, shoot in HDV HD-24P and pair it with the 1280x720x24p, 23.976p settings.
Those suggestions are a good place to start, but don’t stop there; shoot some footage and author it to a BD-RE disc and judge for yourself. (BD-RE prevents making expensive coasters) See what looks the best for your situation, and what works the best in your workflow.

How did you “replace” them? Did you use the Replace Asset command in Encore and point Encore to new, differently-named files?
Or did you encode the new versions external to Encore and simply overwrite the old versions?
The former method is correct; the latter will almost certainly lead to never-ending errors and headaches.

What kind of blank media are you using? If it’s not high-quality stuff like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, then you need to switch.
Your symptoms suggest bad media and/or bad burns.
Also, try creating a disc image with Encore and using the excellent and unobtrusive freeware program ImgBurn to burn the image to disc.

I wish I had a good, simple solution for you, but I don’t. There are enough changes between Encore 2.0 and Encore CS4 that some unexpected behaviors are bound to show up when trying to build 2.0 projects in CS4.
I recommend you re-create the 2.0 project from scratch in CS4, and use the new CS4 version going forward.

When you saved the old project in EnCS4, did you do a “Save As…” or did you overwrite the old version?
It wasn’t clear from your message.
If you overwrote the old version, you may be forced to rebuild the project in version CS4, unless you have a good backup.
If you did a Save As… then I recommend the following:
1. Open the old project again.
2. Don’t make any changes, just do a Save As and rename the project.
3. Exit Encore.
4. Open Encore again and load the renamed project.
5. Go to Edit | Preferences | Media | Media Cache and click the Clean Database button.
6. Make your changes to the project.-Jeff

Chapter Playlists were introduced in Encore 2.0, but version 1.5 did include standard Playlists.

I’m certain that your use of overrides is causing the problem.
Are you trying to set up the chapter sub-menus to play one chapter (timeline) and then return to a menu? If not, then you don’t need any overrides at all. Remove all of the overrides and your project should work correctly.
If you do want to set up playback of a single chapter followed by a return to a menu, then your chapters all need to be in separate timelines. I’m confused by your reference to “6 chapters” and yet you only have 4 timelines.
Do you also want to have a “Play All” button so that the whole movie is played at once? One way to do this would be to set the end action of every chapter timeline to go back to a menu. Then add all of the timelines to a Playlist, in the order that you want them to play. Then link the Play All button to the Playlist.
That way you get the navigation that you want without having to use any overrides.

Does the problem occur on the same images every time? Or does it happen randomly every time the slideshow is played?
If it involves the same images, what is different about them? About the way you’ve handled them throughout the project?
