    Paul,

There is nothing in the Avid code linking it to the Intel processors, so AMD CPUs will work….but it is not supported by Avid when it comes to calling them for support. When it comes to laptops and high end processing (like editing aps)Intel is great because they provide a ton of performance with a small amount of power used….that is why Apple is switching over to them when they release their new laptop because the G5 processor cannot be condensed to run in a laptop because they get so hot. So on a desktop I would say AMD is better, on a laptop, if it was my money I would go Intel. Either way it will work….right now I could obviously steer my customers both ways but I recommend intel on the laptop side.
