October 6, 2011 at 2:43 am in reply to: AJ-PSC060 – can it be used as a card reader for larger cards?I have one of the 64GB E-Series cards and the only way I get video into my Mac Pro and FCP 7 is through my AJ-PCS060.
When I first got it I thought I bought a $300 brick since the HD’s don’t work in 10.6+ (found that out after I bought it on eBay), but it works fine as a P2 card reader for me with all 4GB, 8GB, 16GB p2 cards and that 64GB card.
Like I said I don’t use the HD’s on the AJ-PCS060, but as a card reader directly attached to my Mac Pro it works well.

I heard back from Blackmagic and they suggested rolling back the driver to the previous version 3.7.3 I believe. Also had to roll back the Media Express driver as well. I’m happy to say I’m back in business with the Intensity Pro.

November 23, 2010 at 6:24 am in reply to: Upgraded to SL and no drives showng on deskopJohn,
Hope this will fix your problem. Go to the Finder then under the Finder tab go to Preferences. There you can select what you want to show on the desktop.
Does that put them back on the desktop?
Not sure why the default is to show a blank desktop, but I’ve had to check those on all 4 of my machines after upgrading.

Thanks Chad. I was hoping it wasn’t something like that. Ive been up and down with the settings from my DVR and nowhere does it seem like the 1080 p or i is something I can select.
I’m working on getting my Matrox MXO2 LE working to test the output from the DVR. Preliminary testing seemed to indicate I could capture in either on the Matrox box. Don’t have enough experience with it to know what that means exactly, but I wanted to see what I might be able to do on that end.
I really like the intensity pro card. It has faithfully served me for 2 years or so. But I might need to find a better way. Since the Media Express doesn’t really have a good option for recording 1080 60p. Just uncompressed which ended up being about 100 GB of space. Can’t afford those type of files sitting around. When I transcoded them to prores there ends up being some interlacing issue that makes the video unusable. So I ended up using the uncompressed stuff anyway which looks good but I can’t sustain that space usage for the final 20 weeks of my show.

Actually it’s been a couple weeks of spinning my wheels.
I downloaded the avid codecs and gave them a couple versions to test. There are a couple people who want to get this segment on in HD (if it’s not much more work – Me too!) but some people don’t want to step outside of their normal day to get things figured out.
We’ll see how it turns out. I’m going to keep trying on a limited basis, but I can’t get anyone to test it on their end and get back to me, so I’m not holding my breath.
Thanks for checking back.

I feel really out of the loop trying to go back and forth between the two, but I just downloaded the Avid Codecs and have Quicktime Pro processing right now. I’ll give it a try. Until you mentioned it I really didn’t think to check if Avid had their own codecs. Thanks for the suggestion. If it doesn’t work I’ll be back.
