Try limiting the number of processors that AE is using.

    Thanks for your reponses guys.

I think I’ve corrected the problem by updating Cineform (I was way overdue, but it hadn’t given me any issues in the past.) Once the latest 4.x version was installed, the keyboard performed correctly.

I think the rendering was part of the issue.

This is only a 2 cam edit, so there were four sequences in the timeline. Whenever I would click to play in the multicam monitor, the files would be rendered and then the strange behaviour would occur immediately after rendering. And the problem only occurred in the multicam monitor.

No effects had yet been applied to the other timelines.

    Thanks again for your replies.

Yes, I was placing the keyframes at the extreme in out points of the clip.

My assumption was that the keyframes moved once the transition was placed between the two clips, but I did not realize that frames were being added to the clip to facilitate the transition.

So it seems the easiest way to accomplish what I want is to manually move the frames after the transition is set, as I have been doing.

And just to clarify, the reason I need to move the frames is I want motion to be consistent throughout the playing of the clip. If I do not move the keyframes, then the clip begins static during the transition, then reaches the keyframe and begins the motion.

Next photo montage I’ll try the pin to clip, but it sounds a little more intensive than just manually adjusting the frames after the transition is set.

    Thanks Tim,

    Steven,

Canopus and Adobe are like oil and water in the same PC. Each has their own merits, but I would not run both in the same PC w/o a dual boot system, especially with Canopus hardware involved.

Check out Canopus forums for info on their software/hardware, they have some extremely helpful and friendly users who are very knowledgable on the pluses and minuses of Edius.

Well Gene, you nailed it. Canopus DV Rex w/RT and MPEG card was the culprit.

It hadn’t ocurred to me because the two had existed peacefully since 2.0 initial installation. But upon removal, viola!

It really is kinda sad, the damn card served well and long.

Now back to cleaning out all the Canopus software…what a drag!

    Thanks for the help guys,

I’ve tried the Premiere Preferences removal and reinstallation and still have the same problem.

I’m fairly certain I’ve waited more than long enough, if that is the case, then I think I’ve got other issues cause I have waited over 5 minutes thinking exactly what you mentioned Steve.

I’m at a loss as to why the reinstall from disk did not fix the problem.

If I do a complete uninstall, I shouldn’t lose any project info, should I?

I’ve got four current projects in the system and don’t want to lose any of that data, as I was able to work around the lapse.

    Thanks,

    Jay

I think I figured this out. I guess 2GB RAM on a 3.2 P4 is not enough HP for what I’m trying to accomplish in preview mode. I can get wireframe to show me what I’m doing, but come up short on RAM.

    Thanks,

I don’t have the option of opacity for the text I have inserted. I understand what you are saying witht the keyframes and opacity, but it is not available on any text options.

This is all done as one composition right?

    Thanks,

    Jay
