    That Iomega shared storage drive appears to be a very cost effective answer to the original poster’s question. I am also looking to implement a similar setup on a tight budget.

    Now, I understand that one drawback of that solution is that multiple users cannot simultaneously access the same file, but in terms of fcp, does that one-at-a-time factor apply to project files only, or to both project files and raw media files? In other words, let’s say I had two fcp editors working on different computers, connected to the same iomega drive, but using different project files… could both editors import the same raw media files (in their two separate project files) and edit with them at the same time?

    Because if they could not, that would be a serious drawback for me.
