Tim-

I’ve used this workflow plenty, here’s how I would handle it:

* capture/edit native HDV 1440×1080

* once you’ve locked picture, export using compressor to 4:3 .m2v/.ac3 (bit rate will depend on how long your final piece is) for your DVD

* bring your .m2v/.ac3 files into DVD Studio Pro. Make sure your tracks are set to display as “16:9 Letterboxed”

* burn and deliver
