I saw the pro media gear curved slider too, and seriously considered it. Then I saw this. I should have one, with both the action and target modules, in two weeks.

I wouldn’t worry about hacking it. Just get used to shooting with it first and if you find that the image just isn’t what you want it to be, then you can try hacking. The GH2 does shoot 720p60, which when played back at 24fps gives you 2.5x slowmo.

[Cyrus Duff] “I just got a gh4 an have been shooting mp4 files in 1080p and 4k at 100 mbps. Playback is fine on the camera, but when I transfer to my laptop I’m getting really choppy playback. Audio plays straight through, but it seems to give me about 1 frame per second. “
I’ve found that I cannot smoothly play back files from my GH4 either. I’m referring to 100mb 4k .MOV files. I have a maxed out 2011 Macbook Pro. In order to edit them fluidly in FCPX, I need to create proxy files. I’m sure they would be fine if transcoded to ProRes as well. I was hoping for better performance of native camera files, but hey, that’s what I get with 4k and a three year old laptop!

In this case I was given screenshots of my footage, with red lines overlaid, showing how the eyes of my subject did not perfectly align with the horizontal demarcation 1/3 down from the top of the image. It was also a requirement that the subject be aligned on the vertical 1/3 demarcation, looking into the open 2/3’s.

With the Micro 4/3’s sensor, you get about a 2x crop, so the 25mm is effectively a 50mm. I’d say I was about 8 feet from the subject.
You’ll notice with the Panasonic lenses that the crop factor is taken into account and the effective focal lengths are well known and oft-used. 25mm=50mm, 35-100mm=70-200mm, 42.5=85mm, etc…

John: IMO, the Panasonic GH series has offered more-for-the-money than any other cameras out there and the GH4 is a fantastic update. They’ve been overlooked and derided by the Canon crowd, but if they want to spend more, carry more and have fewer features for similar imagery, who am I to stop them?
Regarding lenses, I do have a passive adaptor and a bunch of manual Nikons, but I’m also gradually collecting the Panny lenses and starting to use those more. I shot this with the Panasonic 25mm f1.4. I have the 14-140 which came with my GH2. It’s decent for shooting outdoors, but too slow for inside. I also have an Olympus 9-18mm which is fantastic for exteriors and landscapes. I have the Panny 35-100 f2.8 on order, but it is out of stock everywhere on the planet.
Spare batteries also seem to be unavailable, anywhere, at the moment. I have been able to rent them at lensrentals.com, though. Fortunately, battery life is much improved over the GH2. I’m also waiting for stock on Panasonic’s SD cards, so I don’t have to spend twice as much for the SanDisk’s.
