how much performance would I get off 48 cuda cores? I have something like 448 cuda cores in my desktop setup, but i really have no idea how much I use of that. I edit DVCPROHD (720p) and export to both DVD’s and h.264.

this was the laptop I was looking at.. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246155

    I currently have a https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-dv6-3210us-15-6-Inch-Entertainment/dp/B004FN0TCC

both are consumer models, both have cpus of similar performance (different clock speeds tho) the only difference would be the video card.

If i spend over $1k on one I would probably go with the hp though. but both with my current laptop and the $549 lenvo I can use third party optical bay adapters to but in a second hdd (7200rpm scratch disk)

    Thanks,
    Jason

I can later. I didn’t have to pay for Windows 7 license because I get them free from MSDN so that would be an extra $200-300

    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Sounds to me like a full version was previously installed. Sometimes software keeps serial numbers stored in the registry, in premiere pro case unless you tell it to remove user data during un-install

    Thanks,
    Jason

  • The Full versions Show a Deactivate under the help menu. I assume the trial version would have a “Enter Serial” or “Register” something to that effect anyway. the trial version should also open a additional registration windows a lot of times you open PP (if not all the time)

    Thanks,
    Jason

I think most of us end up building our own computers.

I get all my parts off newegg. I think I spent about $1000 on mine. (6 months old now)

You should get a Core i7 or AMD 6 core. and a Adobe supported gfx card.

    the system I built was

    AMD Phemon II X6 3.2Ghz
    Gigabye Mobo USB3/PCIE/ESATA/SATA II/SATA III
    4x 1TB HDD’s 7200RPM (2 system drive (mirrored) 2 Scratch (RAID 0)
    Nvidia GTX 470
    Windows 7 64bit

    Hope that helps some

    Thanks,
    Jason

I’m pretty sure h.264 is pretty common for web.

    I don’t think wmv is a format… it’s a wrapper (and I’m on a mac)

mpeg4 may work but it wouldn’t be hd then.. I’ll have to check the size..

no I don’t have other compression software compressor has plenty of options for me.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    Thanks!

yeah, I guess I’m off the opinion you can make just about any camera work if you need too.

I will probably get one then. although sometimes lens glare adds a nice effect- but only when you want it.

    Thanks for your help.

well I ended up wining it for $180. I can’t really complain about that…

the canons are nicer but the cheapest I found a used one going for was about $600 with some time left (and I wouldn’t want to spend that much of my student loan right now)

It cam with the camera, a good case, extended life batter (aprox 4hrs runtime), and battery charger.. no SDHC card, but I guess I can get one of those off newegg for like $10 for class 6..

I already have an xgrip… would you recommend buying a lens hood for it? I will mainly shoot out doors but sometimes indoors..
