“it’s 3 1/2 yrs old and has had about 200 5-10 minute videos run through it)”

We’ve had ours for about that long too and have run probably 5 times that much video through it and it is still running strong.

It is a great application, i’ve been using it for years….I just wish Sonic would have made it OSX compatable before abandoning it.

They do exist…kinda. I have one here from the Artisan entertainment company…it’s not a buisness card, but it’s one of the 80mm round kind. I haven’t seen any that were square like a buisness card though.

I’d just buy an internal drive, and then an extrnal box to put it in. Usually it’s cheaper than buying a pre-built external drive. I’d avoid the Lightscribe….while it’s a cool concept…I think it will die off pretty quickly since the media is so expensive.

I believe Pioneer makes one, but it’s more of a professional deck than a consumer deck….from what I remember the price tag is pretty big also!

The thing I still hate about the set top units is the crappy menus that they produce and most of them don’t allow you to change much. If only they would allow you to make a simple pop-n-play DVD with no menu at all.

Just so you know…when you do convert these files to MPEG-2 they are going to look absolutely terrible when you burn them to DVD and play them on a TV. Pretty much all digital cameras will record at 320X240 in a highly compressed quicktime format. IF you then blow that up to a 720X480 and compress it even more…it’s going to look really bad!
