I usually hover over the audio gain line and holding option, u can click and add key frames.

  • Haha…thought I did. Even went to menu and it was greyed out. Maybe I had selected outside of browser? I check again.

OK, thanks guys. You can move to next keyframe using alt + ; and ‘ but you don’t have to. Use the range selection tool and you can grab multiple keyframes to delete.

Any chance that I’m missing a “record audio keyframes” function they might have put back in? I LOVE that feature.

keyboard shortcut – Opt+arrow L and R will move you word by word through any text in the OS. This might help navigate it. CMD+L and R moves you to the front or end of the entire line as well.

  • That was it. Odd behavior, solid answer! 🙂 thanks man!

  • Ok, I think I understand. I’m not in front of my machine now. When using opt+x, does that clear what’s selected? Or anything in the browser? Can u “deselect” multiple things at once?

  • I did that, and what it’s doing is laying down the favorite segment and also the entire keyworded portion (which is the entire clip).

I can’t get it do it consistently either way, if I expand the clip, I see the keyword and favorite. If I select the favorite and then lay it down with the keyboard (Q W or E) it lays down the 4 second clip. If I collapse the clip and select the clip, it now lays down the favorite. If I then go to another clip, and press the same QWE, it lays down the entire 3:00 clip that is keyworded.

    Make sense?

  • Videospec Is a tool that I often use to analyze compressed file formats. It gives great detail about the file.

Post production world is the thing I’ve found the most valuable. I’m in a similar situation, in-house, soup to nuts production. I’ve been to PPW for 2 years in a row and came back energized, more informed and inspired.

PPW is Ala carte. You go to whatever session whenever you want. There was usually always 1 or 2 sessions I wanted to attend. The value ($800 in 2012) is well worth what you would normally pay for training.

I’d spend everyday I can at PPW and go to the show floor for one full day. Show floor is cool, but unless you are actively trying to purchase new equipment, I don’t find a ton of value spending much time there. Obviously, this is my opinion and others would probably disagree.

  • Do most people have a dual partitioned drive for this?

My primary machine is a laptop…and I could dedicate space for a second partition to do testing, but I’m unsure of how big it should be. How much do you have to allocate? For an OS and a few install programs…I’d think you couldn’t get away with anything smaller than 30-50GB. I’d hate to eat into my internal drive too much for a “testing ground”
