Walter…nice layouts!! that gave me some great ideas. I have dual monitors…so I get spoiled and I work much the same way as John…bins on the left screen and timeline and source/record on the right (probably from my AVID Meridien days) Time to save me some layout files!-Jason

a GREAT renaming app – Name Mangler – can do some great automation on batch renaming files. It’s very powerful.

So eloquently put Dave! Less sarcasm than i was expecting. 🙂 I Just enjoy reading the posts…it’s exciting, things are gonna change in June and it’s fun to guess. Kind of like shaking ur Christmas presents…getting a little glimpse, but you can’t open until June!

But what about companies who have several licenses…our it Dept manages/buys the licenses. How do I get it on machine a b c? Have to link to his account? Hope to god we can do a disk image, so we dont have to download 3-4 times.

Nice post Erik, I know it’s sad…but my favorite in your list has to be pitch corrected audio skimming… 🙂
I was bothered that in his demo, he never set an in or out point…we live and die by in and out points, and I don’t think we’ll ever get around that…

I sat in the presentation and my impression was initially good, it was very vague, so there will be much more to come and examine. But this new app isn’t for consumers…how many home videos are shot in 4k?

I understand the “spinning parts” argument, but keep in mind that we use them EVERYDAY, they support our entire industry, and many others…I don’t like to vilify things unnecessarily … I personally think it’s a non-issue, it’s like arguing not to go outside because u could get hit by a car 🙂

I echo Walter’s comments. You can EASILY get a bus powered USB or Firewire drive. I routinely send stuff overseas…
I have had some issues with some PC laptops not having enough bus power to spin up a drive…so I got some LaCie drives that have an additional plug that goes from USB to a DC looking type of plug. It just offers additional power to spin up…but that’s really only relevant when using an older laptop. These are all 500GB drives…there really should be no need to plug into a wall.
