Thanks for the thread. I have read that and others similar and I feel I’m close but.

Shane said to capture and edit in 29.97. Ok but when I do FCP creates the seq settings with the first clip. I noticed that the field dominance is set to “NONE”. The footage looks pretty poor albeit I’m looking on a computer monitor. If I change the field to “upper” on the seq settings some frames look better.

Should I leave it to NONE, edit the project and export through Compressor doing a reverse telecine?

    Thanks for your patience.

I believe Mac users need Flip4mac to export any WMV or AVI.

Do I not need to use Flip4mac when exporting AVI’s? I’d be happy not to. Sorry my questions are getting more and more basic. I just don’t know much about low end consumer products…ie AVI’s from a basic still camera.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and it does work in compressor. Unfortunately I still cannot get it to work in FCP. Thanks again for the workaround though, I’ll use it.

You know something is wrong when you are the only one that replies to YOUR OWN questions. Oh well I guess I’ll start writing to myself…
Flip4mac has told me to do so many things…delete files in library, repair permissions, reinstall 10.4.11, repair permissions again. Nothing is helping. No one wants to touch this on the forums I’ve written on.

Ok, I’m going to ask an easier (hopefully way more fun to answer question).
I have hundreds of AVI’s from a lil still camera I’m trying to edit in FCP. Since FCP wants to do a lot of rendering of these AVI’s I thought it would be a good idea to batch export to Apple ProRes (a codec I would think would run especially easy in FCP). Is there any easier way to edit with these AVI’s?

    2 weeks and ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
