I bought a program called VoltaicHD to convert the .MTS files to .mov and it works! Can view the files in QT and import them in FCP without problems.

Not in QT. It works in VLC but quite shaky and slow…

No, too bad, still after installing Perian it says: unrecognized file size. But if I click ‘open anyway’ and then try to export it to quictime it says: Error: can’t read the frame size.

Really pulling my hair out on this one. Discovered that it’s possible to insert .mts in final cut pro if you save the whole folder straight from the camera including all other folders, by using Log and Transfer . The thing is that I don’t have the whole folder with all the contents anymore.

Thinking about buying the tool wonder share video converter. Currently doing a tryout which add a watermark. But ofcourse I prefer a free solution because I’m working on volenteer projects.

    Any other options?

Ah yes the material comes from a canon legria HFM31.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will give it a try as soon as I’m at home.

The tool doesn’t seem to support .mts files 🙁 My quicktime is up to date.

Thnx anyway I’m sure it will come to hand on future projects.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve converted a file using Clipwrap, but if I try to open the converted .mov the video looks all grey and then Quicktime crashes. When I import it in final cut and do a playback, FCP crashes as well. No idea what’s wrong with the file. Any other options?
