Thanks for that. I did receive a CD with the camera that included an editing option which allowed me to convert the avchd files into mpeg3 files.
These will play in Windows Media Player etc, but when I import them into Premiere Pro 2, I lose the sound.
Any suggestions for converting mpeg2 files into another format that will import into Premiere Pro with the sound intact?

Hello:
I have tried it with IE and get as far as trying a download but then it comes up with ‘download failed…. Error 401, access to site unauthorized’ although I did enter the user name and password that was sent to me along with the link?

Thanks for the link…. sadly I did try to download the program from this site, I was forwarded on to enter my details etc.
I then received a name and password which I entered into the link that was sent to me and clicked on ‘accept usage details’ I clicked on ‘download’ and nothing happened….except my browser disappeared.
When I went to open it, I found I was just ‘restoring’ the session.
support@mainconcept.com refuses to give any support as they have an agreements with but Panasonic but refers me to them. Any other options?

If only life were that simple?
I have tried looking on the Panasonic website for the UK and the global one and entered the phrase
“program that will convert the avchd footage to DVCPRO HD.” and came up with no results! I then tried entering the model number and also came up with ‘no results’.
Apparently they do not even know what product they are selling?
How bizarre is that.
I guess my search techniques need some refining?
