I don’t even know where to begin to answer that.
Like I have said before, your defense is admirable, there *may* be something to this program some day for the 54% market share, but please stop. They yanked off the shelf where their users were 2 days ago on top of this very limited release.
There is far more going on here then just a lack of features and that’s fine you won’t address that, but this is a complete paradigm shift on Apple’s part when that new paradigm cannot even replace what came before it while at the same time yanking 7 out of our hands without warning…
Yes, we can still use 7…if we have a copy or are lucky to find one that doesn’t cost 3000$ on ebay by next week…
It stinks. It’s not overly dramatic…this is a pretty big deal to some of us…

This doesn’t wash. A 1.0 release doesn’t excuse leaving a 54% marketshare where they were 2 days ago or having to go elsewhere…

I just think it’s fair to say: these features might not be returning…they were dropped. Lets call it what it is, not what it could be on speculation from beta testers…

This is I think the biggest flaw and says way more than anything else. They didn’t phase anything out, giving users time to adapt/adjust/find alternatives…they just flat out pulled it without warning…@#$%
For now, that just piled on the frustration, but at the end of the day, will have a longer effect on it’s users…

I don’t know why this is said with such certainty by most defenders here. Maybe a couple of things in the ecosystem will come…but honestly, they have had 4 years to roll this out. What was left on the floor was not by accident unless the model here is to charge for things that should have come standard in every other NLE…where is Apple on this? Beta testers are not confirmations…
It needs to be said with every review that puts the unknown future in it as certainty, these things are not promised to come…they were dropped and weren’t just left out arbitrarily…they weren’t “rushed” to put this out.

This is pretty standard in today’s workflows but are you even looking at them natively or does X work on proxy??

PPro is good enough for my needs so I’ll be there on my next demanding project and using DaVinci. I even enjoy using AE again after spending a year on Nuke…Adobe is putting some good stuff out, since 2006 Apple is just putting out fluff…

I would even go further and “suggest” if you stick with FCS3 grabbing another copy or 2 for more seats since they are pulling it completely might be prudent. There is no reason to panic if you buy yourself some time. And the other options available exceed Final Cut Studio by several measures anyways…
Avid, Adobe and Davinci are all there for you and can cross-platform well, even with your legacy projects in FCS. Which is a laugh FCX can’t…Avid is also getting better with cards.
From all *user* feedback available, it looks like Final Cut Pro X is a dud for the professional post workflow right now. And probably for a long while.

We keep hearing this…but it’s not what is happening. Final Cut Pro is gone….Color, gone. Soundtrack Pro, gone…and all of FCS now is easier to crossplatform with Avid and Adobe than X…cosmic irony…
RIP FCP
I migrated over to Final Cut for the Color workflow. Now that Davinci is available at an affordable price, I’ll be on the bandwagon and jump back to PPro.

We shouldn’t have to sit around waiting for features to be added that were standard in the last platform…What Apple did was madness…

From what we have seen and read from users so far, the ecosystem and cross platforming missing is just a drop in the bucket to what’s missing, dropped, gone…
Walter’s podcast is a great summation of not just changes but as they repeatedly say “you flat out can’t do it”…
Not good. And it appears a lot has been abandoned….

When I read users are encountering destructive source processes, no warnings or roadmaps to discontinued features et al, I’m not reading that as unjustifiable “internet panic”. There have been more reasoned posts expressing concern and criticisms than “the sky is falling” crowd. I think it’s a shame most are getting lumped in with them unfortunately.
There just seems to be a lot of unnecessary mystery surrounding a platform that has been supported and built by the very people put off by todays release.
While I am not as cynical as some, and feel that down the road this will obviously improve. I just won’t be surprised after today’s rollout if the once *standard* features of most NLE’s, or much requested updated features (years late to FCP) won’t come at an inflated price.
