Hey boyde, I completely see your point and, in actual fact, this is a feature you’re more likely to see in imovie or suchlike.
    Many thanks for your reply.

    Thanks Andy,
    Much more helpful.
I just see it as an invaluable timesaver. I will submit it. I did look through Jerry Hofman’s book before posting and couldn’t find anything about it.
    Thanks again.

Hey, if bad djs can speak into a mic and have the music fade down and up when they speak, then I think FCP ought to be able to.
Also, i’m not asking the program to do anything creative, simply fade down and up at specified points.
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer, Jeff.
I need to get me a headcleaner for the camera i’m using!
I was having a corrupted image coming through on both the LCD and log and capture window.
The odd thing is, when I try the tape that was already in there (it’s a friend’s camera) it works fine. I brought my tapes on a plane so perhaps it’s something to do with the x-ray machine… who knows.

It looks like that on the deck aswell.
I’ll try another camera. Do DVcams record in different formats ? If so would they not be able to play some formats?

That’s what I’ll try and do.
When I import into imovie I get a clean image but it flickers all over the play…

    Hey,

    thanks for replying..
but it just doesn’t re-size; it won’t get any bigger. Are we sure the monitor would be reason why ? Surely the quality would be different but the quicktime window enlarges but not the film…..

  • It’s not just a few frames at the end though; it’s putting in a black frame after pretty much every cut (between those I’m not fading between).

It doesn’t play this way in my timeline; only happens when i encode it.
Could this be to do with the timecode?
