I had that problem the first time I installed Fcp7 on my loin MacBook. I had x on my MacBook before installing 7. If you open finder,applications , and put x in a new folder it should install if not use “zapper” the app to uninstall x and Install 7 then ten. After installing 7 I like to change the app name to fcp7 to help a Lil. The zapper app is free google it. You get three free complete uninstalls. Just dumping apps in the trash doesn’t work so while for apple apps. They store content and system integration files in other places on your hd. So zapper away. Hope everything works out ok. SO i hear you but i’m not sure what your doing wrong, FCP 7 is still supported on the new OSX. WHere are you having the issue installing it? I just finalized the installs on my new 27″ iMac i had no problem with FCP 7 it installed like always. i’ve also install FCP X , Motion, compressor and color and had no issues. The OSX app store even ran the pro apps update for my FCP7 so i dont believe this is apple fault, it may just be something conflicting with the software. LEt me know what stops your install and we can work from there.

Hey I see that you got it covered lol. Man I love you fcpx wishlist I think you said almost everything and more but I’m sure once they do All that we will find more. So yes. Of promoting anyone but if you want to learn fcpx in three hours izzyvidoes can do it be has a whole advanced fcpx line up that will get you up to speed by the last vid. It help fcp 7 translate to X. Everyone I know hated fcpx because they didnt know it. Now that I showed them the way we all support it and hope they support our suggestions. Hopefully you check out the vids. Be us if you make X work for you you never want to go back. Oh yea compressor 4 same look but way better.

Hey Glad to hear you’re going towards thunderbolt. After portability the leCies are not. You still need to power them and the are big. If you don’t mind that you’ll be fine, but if you want bang for your buck seagates go flex now call backup plus is a great way the go. Portable drives 1 TB for 80-100 bucks all you need is the seagate thunderbolt adapter and the cable. Also if you don’t want to use the seagate drive which max out at 5200 rpm you can load any 2.5 drive into the adapter since it is a Sata dock. So you could dock internal drives to it. That includes SSD’s! I used it to edit everyday and speed is never and issue even with the seagate drives. As for raiding it will not since its a single drive but there are ways to raid two different without software but that’s a whole other tread. Hopefully this helped.

Sorry My terminal code didn’t work
But the only way to find that folder is to unhide it. So if you are running loin or mountain loin get a program called “loin tweaks” or “mountain loin tweaks”. Then Open it and click show hidden files. Then go to hd/library/applicationsupport/proapps/etc/etc……
It should be there. Unless apple moved it (i doubt that). Let me know if it worked for you. I checked my Loin Boot drive and its still there so i hope it works. Good luck. -
Hey sorry to hear about your troubles. It seems to me that your may have lost important content in your pro apps folder.if that is the case you should always reinstall. Just to be safe. You don’t know what else is missing. I Know it sucks but in the long run it should be back to normal. Just do the reinstall before you go to sleep. i’m sorry i don’t have a better option but when it come to serials you should go about it the right way instead of trying to manually fix it. it seem to always end up bad.
But I do have a better option.

I’m moving everyone I know to it and I haven’t heard one complaint yet.
I don’t work for apple but i do edit TB’s of footage a day and I only want to work on FCPX
Because its fast and efficient.Nothing compares to it.
I can do three FCPX projects in the time it take just to transcode one project in FCP 7.
You get my point. the thing FCP 7 Support is gone, NO More…..
so sooner or later you have to go somewhere.

Well thanks for the heads up I see this is an outdated post. To fcpx comment after 10.3 multi clip is an opinion and for multi formats it works.i havent tired xdcam format yet but I pushed a 5 cam multiclip with all different formats. I’m going to do a canon dslr (h.246) with ex3 xdcam it’s going to be fun.ill post on the results after. I hoping with fcpx being able to accept the native codecs all I have to worry about is my ram and processing speed.

ok so all it tok was me to ask someone to make me look harder if you still can’t see them it becuz the new update hid the app support folder in the hd system library
just go to terminal and type ( defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES ) to show all hidden folders. you have to relaunch the finder by press and hold option then click and hold finder intill menu pops up then click relaunch once this is done go to hd/system/appsupport/proapps it will be there 🙂 so happy to find it.
to hide the folder back so your don’t delete them just do the same thing in terminal but switch yes to no.

hey guys first off i love CC you save my life to many times but i have a problem that i can’t fix. i too cannot get the the pro apps folder but I have before which is confusing. i guess the new update re directed it? but anyways i’ve tried option-go library app support but no pro apps. then tried thru hd/system/library and found no app support I’m so confused is their a hotkey i need to press to view or what?i would love if you guys can help.
also this should be a new tread but have you found a way to archive canon rebel cards on fcpx without using disk image.I would like to use the fcpx archive instead of imaging.
