Thanks Rafael – i have continued to have a look, but most suggestions don’t seem to for compressor or encoder so was wondering if anyone had any hot tips / settings they’d be kind enough to share. I’m sure I can trial and error my way through it, but it would be good to start off on the right track.

    All the best,

Sorry – should have mentioned that I’m running 6.0.6 at the mo.

Thanks, good advice – only prob is that there are potentially many broadcasters…. and potetially none as none is guaranteed. I think you’re right though – DV is fine – it’s just a hideous format.

Thanks guys – I think this is still going to involve a lot of tedious work for me, going through and sorting out all the portrait ones for a start.

Thanks for the help though, and if anyone has any other ideas please don’t hold back.

    Thanks for the advice.

I am using the HD on the MacBook this time though (I was trying to streamline the amount of kit I lugged to the job). Should that make any difference?

    Thank again,

Ah that’s it – I knew I’d seen a codec for it someonewhere. It must have been in the export settings of compressor or FCP.

    I’ll have a play.

Yup – I’d had my eye on this but was looking for something cheaper – just for guide stuff really.

Ah – that might explain why Quicktime was happy to play it 16:9 but not other media players.

I’m going to burn the video to DVD using iDVD for brevity’s sake. I think I’ll have to export with custom settings.

Given that all my source material was true 16:9 (DV), is there a way of avoiding the anamorphic thing and just having a true 16:9 DV sequence?
