    Nevermind, it was Track Keyframes.

    Thanks – you’re welcome. 🙂

Personally, I think it would be much easier to render the rocket without the smoke trail and simply track the rocket later in your editing program with a smoke trail .png animation/video.

    Syed,
You can actually show your clients two skills in one project. And by that I mean, instead of just messing with any 3D models, show them that you can take any 2D image or logo and make into a stunning 3D logo.

I have a file titled “Troubleshooting – Work Notes” where I track my work and keep notes on any problem I’ve solved or work I’ve done. Hopefully my notes can help you here:

Turn 2D png into 3D model in Cinema 4D
    Open .png in Photoshope CS6
Right Click on thumbnail preview in the “Layer” on workbar
Choose “Select Pixels” (You may have to use the Pen tool here to smooth out edges, or use other tricks to get the right curves)
Right Click on highlighted area (Or open “Paths” window and click on upper-right corner)
    Choose “Make Work Path”
    Go to File up top
Choose “Export” – “Paths to Illustrator”
Place each path into an “Extrude”
Click on Path – then raise up from 20 to….

I have a video on YouTube that shows a few examples of 2D images I turned into 3D models if you want to see some examples:

Let me know if you need any other ideas…

Thanks for the help Brian. I figured out that the file I built this logo in was a Lightbox…yikes. Even after deleting the Lightbox, the floor kept showing up.

I simply copied all my logo layers and opened a New .c4d file — set-up my render settings — and pasted the logo into a fresh project. I haven’t used lightboxes in a LONG time and this logo looks beautiful without it, so I’m not even sure how that mistake happened.

    Again, thanks for your help!

Thanks for responding, I’m not sure what the scene file is, but I will post a picture if you can explain that please.

Every layer of my C4D project is showing and there is no plane or floor or background layer. It’s simply the layers needed for the logo design.

My original post has two pictures showing the project layers. There is no floor or background layer. You can click on the picture and zoom in to see the layers and some Render settings as well.

There is only cameras, and the logo. Somehow a floor appears when it renders. Very confusing.

July 29, 2014 at 2:52 pm in reply to: 113 Frame Animation renders 226 frames?

I didn’t know about Project Settings, so thanks for that.

What happened was that my animation was 227 frames long, not 113 as I thought. So Cinema 4D thankfully didn’t listen to me and rendered the whole animation.

Nice to know that C4D has a brain of it’s own, otherwise I would only have rendered half of an animation. 🙂

Bummer. I’m the freak that has always preferred pc’s to macs, but I’m noticing that my friends are running into lots of issues with macs also.

I love the Mac designs, but stayed away just because of the simple right-click issue with their mouses. I heard later that Mac sells mice with the right-click option, but it was too late. haha

Like strawberry or chocolate, whatever you prefer.

Is there plug-in that can cover the gap for you???

I have AE6 open, so I duplicated your layer and hit the 3D selection, and the Geometry options appeared. I turned off the 3D selection, and they disappeared.

Sometimes, once in a blue moon, you get a weird problem that simply requires you to reboot your computer and restart your program. We run these programs day and night and forget to give them a rest. 🙂

    Hope that’s all it is.
