  • So maybe we need a Consolidate Events command?

    Thanks that’s a good point.

To be fair when I have the option to optimise and create proxies before importing stills I never bother thinking it’s pointless to do so.

    But maybe it isn’t!

  • Pardon me for butting in but I am just exploring the ‘Consolidate Media” functionality myself and wonder whether this might be helpful in this instance?

I may be barking up the wrong tree of course but I think it might get rid of your duplicated media?

Actually the behaviour of connected clips when dissolves are added somewhat puzzles me – they automatically become Secondary Storylines (with a “shelf”) and if I select the clip and delete it leaves the dissolves there as connected dissolves.

If I lasso the clip and the dissolves obviously it deletes the lot but strange that it thinks I might have use for a dissolve sitting there on its own.

    A bit odd?

I wondered about that…it was late so pilot error probably the cause of that one.
Thanks for confirming my suspicions about Ken Burns and dissolves….bit of a pain having to delete the dissolves before making changes but I can see how a dissolve could be a bit confusing for a key frame .

I have trashed preferences and render files and logged in as a different user. No difference.
It crashes with Ken Burns only when there are dissolves both ends of the clip.
If I add dissolves afterwards no problem.
I will try reinstalling but think that is unlikely to help.
It is such a specific problem it feels more buggy to me.

    Thanks

But it only happens when I am doing that particular thing?

But still the more I use it the better I am liking it

I think that’s a fair comment. In this situation I had some extra interviews that I shot a few days later and then having imported and used some bits thought “hang on a minute I should have created a keyword collection for all those interviews” so it was an afterthought and if I had thought about it more I would have and probably should have done this from the outset.

But I didn’t… in my haste to see if things worked. it was like an offline experiment and then once I realised what I should have done it was a but late. Not a massive problem I can select them one at a time and it does not take so much longer.

Once again learning a different workflow.

Now that I know it was conceived as “First Cut” I have got my head round it better.

    And option x works.

It encourages me to work in a more disciplined way.

That said – bit of a pain but lesson learnt.

I kind of like seeing them there as reference for what I have used but if I am selecting clips as an afterthought keyword collection some time into the edit, I want to be able to be able to multi select clips and add to a keyword collection without necessarily losing those PIOPs with ‘option x’ which means they all disappear forever.

Not sure what the best solution would be without making things really complicated.

How do you type the option and command symbols anyway…that’s clever.
