    Ty, I finally figured it out. And yeah, the Tascam has actually 4 separate tracks – all controllable. It’s my cheaper replacement for the Zoom H4n that went south. Anyway – the problem was that you had to make sure the ‘pan’ settings for each track were set wide to full left and full right. The default setting is ‘center’ and I didn’t realize you had to go in and fix that. Now the tracks are truly distinct in both Tascam and the Canon, and easily editable…thanks again for your post!

    Hello Ty, and warm welcome received! (I actually used to post a long time ago)

    Thank you, the article is great – (makes more sense than the Tascam site) very nice site to hook into – unfortunately didn’t solve the problem which I am not sure which part of work flow is the culprit. Do you have any experience with a Canon 70D? I think that the Camera may be the problem – it says in manual it records in stereo but when I move to editing – both L and R have exactly same wave forms – as if the signal got mixed somehow into one track. I will post on CC as well to see if someone has an answer…thanks again!
