OK, so it looks like the system needs to be set to 59.97i…..I see the laptop but now I can’t see the 2 Sony A7s cameras.
Can I use these cameras with some sort of convertor in line?

    Thanks,

  • What version of Powerpoint are they using? MP4s shouldn’t be a problem.

I’m very careful on the speaker placement, so I’m pretty confident its not that. I have a Behringer Feedback Destroyer Pro, but I’m not sure how good that model is. Any thoughts on that?
In regards to the gain setting, could you be a little more specific? I push the level as much as I can, without getting into clipping.

  • Hi Ty,

So if I purchase a Schoeps CMC641for use on a boom pole, would this also be a good mic for use on a podium, to feed mixer to powered speakers for meetings? Just trying to justify the cost to my bean counters.

    Thanks,

Hi Mark. I’ve been using JBL EON powered speakers fee by a Mackie 12 channel mixer. For the crowd size your talking about I think a Passport (which I also have) might be a little light. You can probably find a used 16 channel Mackie pretty cheap. I just traded one. If you can find a couple of used powered speakers you should be in business. If you get in a bind give me a call. I might be able to help you out.

Neil Young said that it was better to burn out than it is to fade. Is there a good burn out transition?

  • Hi Ty. Thanks for your response, and to all of the great suggestions you’ve shared over the years.
I can distinguish the difference between boom mics and lavs. I actually have several shotguns (Sennheiser K6 and Audio Technica 835b.) Sometimes I use a Shure FP33 in the field.

Typically, I record to a SONY a7s, through the SONY XLR-A1M. I take the audio via the HDMI out of the camera, into the Atomos Shogun. I’m usually a one-man-band, so I tend to use lavs, rather than a boom approach. I have a Zoom digital audio recorder, but don’t use it much.

    Thanks,
    James

    I’m a fan of Shockwave-Sound.com (Lynn Publishing)
They are based in Norway, so my credit card always adds an international transaction fee. Usually a track is less than $40.00. This includes a pretty liberal licensing agreement. Other options are available for more $$$
