Areas of Expertise

I'm able to troubleshoot an absolute myriad of technical issues that may occur in a facilities house and often can put measures in place that will stop them before they happen. I'm able to map out and plan projects in advance, from receiving the first rushes, through the offline process, to conforming and onlining, before finishing in audio and delivering.

Comments and Things Worth Noting

9 years experience working in Post Production houses.
7 years of which have been in a very busy facility where I've had to be very versatile across the whole spectrum, with an ability to improvise when necessary. I have experience in everything from installing an online Avid suite, to converting the most obscure multimedia files into something useble for a pilot episode that may not even see the light of day. I'm not scared of digital workflows or any VTR, SD or HD, even if it does have Panasonic written on it.

Recently, the day job has involved a really thorough knowledge of digital workflows and I've worked with Cannon 5D and 7D, AVCHD (MTS) files, Sony XDCAM EX and assorted others. I have also had experience with RED.

I've delivered countless programs to various broadcasters, including the BBC, Sky, Discovery, Bravo, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Crucially, I'm very much into the business of getting other members of staff really good at the above so we look forward to things going smoothly!

I also make a pretty decent DVD project in Adobe Encore when called upon and can handle your basic last minute edit changes in Avid when 'push comes to shove.' *

Away from the facilities house, I'm halfway through my first stab at a novel and secretly feel it's going to propel me to Irvine Welsh greatness. I have also written 3 sitcom pilots, none of which I've been lucky enough to have commissioned… although some positive ego massaging comments have been gratefully received.

I won't go into my attempts at poetry, for fear of ridicule, though it remains the one place where I've had superlative feedback. Shocking.

*For want of a better dead cliche…. and let's be honest, the industry is abundant with them!
