Feeling a bit embarrassed, I just noticed that most of the Colorista functionality is in Looks. And Kosmo gives me the pop as a secondary functionality I need.
If only they had a keyed secondary as an option in MB Looks…

Only works with the trim tool as far as I can tell.

[Bret Williams] “A most bizarre feature- trim to zero. You can trim a clip back until it disappears. Me, I’d just delete or ripple delete it. Weird feature. If I saw that I’d think its a bug.”
FCPX has this feature as well. I thought it was odd at first. But now use it every once in awhile when I want to keep the same program duration.

Any reason not to use the notes field (as an alternative) in the Project library, properties tab, for this kind of archival info?

Now I am getting a short spinning beachball, and then the AE expression warning: Timeout while waiting for the engine. Expression disabled.

Thanks Walter. Your expression is the closest yet I have found. But when the number is between 0 and -1 I see things like -0-.43 and -0.-1
Seems like the negative sign creates issues for many of the expression variations I have played with… not sure why this is.

Exactly. We have an evolving NLE market that will be guided by personal preference much more than in the past. That seems to me to be a good thing. Having one NLE dominate the market isn’t good for anyone.

It does appear that Premiere has caught up with FCP7 which is a good development. Time to finally put in some time learning Premiere as I assume I will start getting requests for it at some point in the future.
On the other hand, our local PBS affiliate just put out a call for someone to train the whole staff in FCPX.
Interesting times.

Yes, if you were actually looking for Premiere info it would be logical to go the Premiere forum. This forum is for those folks who are still resistant to the fact that a lot of editors are using FCPX for Pro work (and that for better or worse we will be living in a fractured NLE world for a long time),… and there are a good number of lookyloos like me that can’t turn away from the spectacle of it all.
