Do you have a recommended brand or model hub that is more reliable?

Joe, thank you so much for your thorough response. My usb hub is AC plug-in powered, so not sure why I’m having so many issues with it. Seems to only happen if I am using more than one of the external drives at the same time. I just wish there were more than 2 ports so I wouldn’t have to rely on the hub. I often will have clients bring in their drives with the media and import to my syu
I’ll have to take a closer look at the iMac 27 and a better hub. I guess I’m so used to old-school machines, I have to get over the stereotype of laptops being less reliable.

Thanks. Didn’t know it was a debate. I’ll check it out.

Doh! I think I knew that. Getting overwhelmed with all the specs requirements. Thanks again!

Ok. Good info. I believe I have room for another 8gb of ram. Regarding the Radeon HD 5870, how does it hold up with 4K and long formats using fcpx? Some of the other cards I’ve looked at have complaints of timeline lags.

Thank you John. I will look at the Radeon as well. I was leaning toward the GTX 980 but I’m concerned about its stability with my setup. I have an ssd drive which should handle it ok. I just did not want to find myself needing another one before I’m ready to upgrade my system entirely.

Ya. I think that’s my next workaround. Thanks.

Yes, David. That’s exactly what I’m doing. This is either a bug in FCP 10.0.8 or a setting I’m missing. It happens even when I’ve rendered out the entire project. The result is not constant….sometimes it happens but not every time and I do this the exact same way each time. I do have color correction on the clip but even rendering it, doesn’t fix the issue. After my initial post, I tried to do an audio enhancement to the clip and it happened again so I undid the audio fix and it reverted back to the aspect I wanted. I’ve decided to back off any audio fixing for now. I have since done 3 other titles and it’s working as it should, but I have yet another 1-hour segment to start tomorrow with titles and I expect this will happen again for those.
