  • Hi Eric

Thanks for the reply. What’s an nMP?

  • Thanks for the replies guys. I’m currently using a Macbook Pro from early 2015. Do you think if I bought the newest one it would have a significant difference? I expect not.

    THanks

Thanks very much for the pointers.

  • Has anyone had any experience with an Asus BW-12D1S-U? It looks good to me but the system requirements denote:

an NVIDIA® GeForce 7600, we only have a NVIDIA QuadroFX 1500

and a Intel Pentium® D 945(3.4GHz) or higher, we have an Intel Xeon @ 3.00GHz.

Are these specific requirements just for BluRay playback or are they for burning as well?

    Thanks for all the help

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply. We’re on a PC here at work – an HP XW8400 workstation – I’m assuming an internal one is a bit faster?

    Thanks Guys

I did another export at a lower bit rate and just a 2pass VBR and it seems to work now.

    Hiya

Thanks for getting back to me.

The bit rate is 8000, CBR, multi-pass. Is this insane?

  • Thanks for all the info guys.

I’ve been reading over the posts again and I think I’m starting to get my head round it. My system by the way is a Windows XP PC with Avid Media Composer. We have a load of hard drives with old rushes on that we would like to back up on LTO for it’s higher levels of sturdiness and security.

    Thanks

  • Hey

Thanks a lot for this response. And yes I have some further questions:

When if I were to get just a basic ‘drag and drop’ drive then what are the drawbacks?

What makes HP suitable for Macs, and IBM suitable for PCs?

Why is Cache – A more pricey?

In terms of components am I write in thinking I would buy a tape drive and the buy individual tapes. Then you can hook up say an external hard drive to the LTFS drive and copy the files over? How do the files exist on the LTO tape? Digitally, and can they then be copied off them easily?

Sorry for the bombardment, I want a get a relatively rounded view of the subject before I think about buying one.

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • HI Guys

Thanks guys, I think we sorted the problem. It seems to actually be the fact that we were trying to mount off a 2TB drive which had not been formatted to NTFS properly. It appeared on the desktop and I could watch the files outside of AVID but MC5 did not recognise them. The formatting of the HD had been really quick, which eventually made us suspicious so we reformatted it using the PC and it took hours and once that was done and we copied the media back onto it AMA would mount. It was odd.

Although I now have another concern. We’re shooting on these SSD’s, importing and backing up the media and then wiping the SSDs for the next days shoot. Because of this, there will be different files with the same names in one AVID project (e.g ‘001’). When we do the relink for the online will this become an issue?

    Thanks!

    Jack
