  • yes, transcoding will bump up the data rate. this isn’t quite the same as capturing the video at the higher data rate and color sampling, though. when you bump 35 or 50 Mb XDCAM up to 100-200 Mbps ProRes you are creating a larger file that may perform marginally better in FCP but will look the same as the original.

  • it’s a bit more agile on an FCP timeline but mostly that option is there so you can quickly go to ProRes if that is your house format

  • Thanks for the early feedback. Currently no .MXF rewrap option but that is on the list. That would only be for rewrapping EX files like we do in Clip Browser and Content Browser.

And of course: Features, pricing and release schedule are subject to change. Thanks..

you won’t be able to do that, i’m afraid.. we don’t release SMs (though we do sell them). even if you found one you’d have to disassemble the camera, which is not an easy thing to do. after the board replacement you will likely need to send new programming data to the camera which requires proprietary software. sorry; i’m just trying to spare you added headaches.

ok, if it isn’t following the media it’s likely a processing issue with the camera itself. i’d call it into support… 866 766 9272

Do they happen all the time, even with different media?

Is there still an EX card image on it (BPAV folder etc)? On a healthy card this will only come up if the file system format is not recognized. Can you try offloading it, formatting it in your computer (Fat32) and then seeing if you can format in the camera? I am guessing that you currently don’t have an available option to format in-camera (usually the case with ‘unknown media’). Let me know.. if the card continues to act up you may want to send it to us to run a quick diag..
