I don’t have any problem with normal AVCHD files. They have always worked perfectly on my Intel iMacs in the past and the M2 and M4 minis I use now.

FCP 12 handles them perfectly so long as I don’t rewrap them.

That’s correct. That is what it does with me and the problem is caused because FCP doesn’t like rewrapped files or at least those rewrapped by Shutter Encoder.

Anyway it doesn’t matter to me as I only shoot progressive AVCHD nowadays which does not have that problem.

I just raised the matter originally out of curiosity to see whether anyone else had experienced similar problems with rewrapped interlaced AVCHD

Ignore my earlier reply.

I have just downloaded the file and it is jerking as badly as ever.

There is something wrong with the file I uploaded. Maybe I uploaded the bad one or maybe the cloud storage has corrupted it?

I can’t explain why you are having problems with the original file.

Joema in the link I provided has found the same results as me . . . normal AVCHD files play perfectly in FCP but those rewrapped in Shutter Encoder don’t.

In the ASC FCP forum joema has tested some old interlaced AVCHD files in Shutter Encoder and confirmed that they don’t work in FCP.

I have just CONVERTED the .mts file to H.265 in Shutter Encoder and it plays perfectly in FCP . . . BUT that is not the point.

I always knew it would work that way as a progressive file but it should also work as a rewrapped interlaced file. FCP is crazy but I have always known that as well. 🧐

I wonder if earlier versions of FCP X would be able to deal with it? ❓

Just noticed the file plays awfully online but seems OK once downloaded.

It works perfectly in DaVinci, QT Player, VLC and Quick Look.

Anyway, as I said I am not really bothered as I don’t need to do it . . . I just hate being beaten!

I have uploaded one AVCHD file from 2012 that has been converted to .mp4 in Shutter Encoder.

Maybe you or someone else could download it and see what happens?
