September 15, 2016 at 4:24 pm in reply to: Ongoing Resolve instability on Late 2013 Mac Pro OS10.11×´However, it seems counter intuitive that a Mac Pro would not be able to run Resolve with another major manufacturer audio interface without consistent problems. Logic runs fine although of course it is an Apple program.
I haven’t heard of any other users having similar problems. I have grown tired of limping along. I may even opt for one machine for grading and one for mixing.×´
Why does it seem counter intuitive?
Did you definitively confirm these plugs are causing your problem?
would seem logical to me that there just aren’t enough Resolve/Logic power users like you out there to flush out all potential plug-in bugs.
If the plugins cause the freezes. and you need both Resolve and these Logic plugins.
It makes perfect sense to have a dual boot system in your case. -

September 13, 2016 at 6:50 pm in reply to: Resolve 12.5.2 + ProRes = really slow saving???I don’t use windows based systems enough to already test 12.5.1 and .2
the whole no QT on windows thing does sound limiting but maybe I’m just too used to QT…I did come across this solving a student’s problem:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/how-to-install-quicktime-on-a-pc-with-windows-10/95f13c0a-b593-4022-ba27-1cd18b255a9bI wonder if it will make any difference.
Did you use to have better performances on Win7 with QT and same type of files/project?
Is rolling back an option? (till there is more stability)hector.

the Sony line of splendid and expensive toy cameras called alpha (A7S among them) records a format called XAVC-s which is a less-pro variant of Sony’s XAVC. This format is based on highly compressed h264 (with poor color depth and chroma sub sampling) using a LongGop compression. XAVCs was introduced in 2013, when your MacBook Pro was already outdated and makes much newer computers than yours weep processing its HD variation (so imagine 4k…). I’m even surprised Resolve 9 supports the file.
all that to say… you should really upgrade, even Mac Pros from 2008 with 8 cores are old and dated.
as for using external tools.
maybe might work for you.check these out.

that was supposed to be an underline, not a link to nowhere… sorry. .
Strange we can’t edit our posts… oh well 🙂 -
I agree.
One of Avid’s less appreciated power feature is that bins are files you can move around, rather than folders unseparable from a project file.
Another one is its backward compatibility. you can open bins or projects made on newer Avids using older Avids… and quite far back if you know what you are doing…Unlike many other systems where a .1 update makes it impossible to open projects smoothly backward.

“• Added ability to copy local grades to remote”
small addition, big time saver 🙂 been waiting for that one.
And of course… still free or utterly inexpensive.
Software development is not a simple or cheap thing.
Thanks so much for the hard work Black Magic. you guys rock!hector.

can’t see a reason why it won’t work, you should be fine.
unless I’m unaware of some new limitation…. -
restart 🙂
the oldest fix in the book. I always assume people tried it before posting a question…Btw, that option was the little minus sign in the second preferences panel.
What version or resolve are you using? -
I agree with David (hi David)
color info is so bad on this footage that this will be very hard (if possible) to make it look realistic and/or pleasant.
I do like a good color challenge so i gave it a try,
4 nodes … rgb mixer and offset, primary wheels, saturation a soft mask with outside primary wheels work..
not sure it would hold up on video and movement but probably could to some extent.
its just going to be a lot of work on every shot for a meh.. result, the kind of job I usually wouldn’t take.hector

As of version 12 I think. you can relink by selecting a top directory, even a volume, and let resolve scan it and find your media. 🙂
previously I meant that in preferences (not settings!) you can maybe remove the unwanted volumes.. if they show up there
