OK, I’m jumping back in here. I believe we should have an encryption method that is affordable and easy to use for all of us. However the encryptions are like locks, they are only there to keep the honest people honest. Having said that, we use a good tactic provided to us by the federal government. The FBI warning has been released to us in a generic form that we are allowed to use.
It says, “Warning: The unauthorized reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. Criminal copyright infringement, including infringement without monetary gain, is investigated by the FBI and is punishable by up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.” We use this with our own logo shadowed behind it.
Keep in mind that we are currently NOT allowed to use the FBI seal, at least not yet. if you would like to verify the use here is the link https://www.fbi.gov/ipr/
This has been a great deterrent for our customers for copying themselves. It is not the best but it does keep the honest people honest.Hawke Taylore

Hi Trey,
Many of our family or school based clients here in Tucson want the good and cheap. one of the things we do here is packages. and in that package to give them the price they want we limit the reproduction to “Only we duplicate”. this is done mostly for concerts and plays. the one we were talking about in the article happened to be a School event. sorry if I didn’t make that clear.Hawke Taylore

And the hardest thing during these trying times is getting people and companies to understand that why you charge the amount you do, is because you know what you are doing. or at least have the resources to get it right.

I didn’t know about the mercury. If it’s not one thing its another. well at least all of our ouside lighting is Solar LED. And that has helped our bill as well.

On occasion we will use different types of stabilizers one thing I insist on is the body brace, mostly because of an injury. but the other thing we do is strip the camera down to only what you need on it. if you are using the XL-1 with a monitor. get the viewfinder off of it. every ounce adds up and the less weight the better.

I’m not sure how it is in CA. But here in Tucson, AZ We do both. depending on the job. and don’t worry we all get those looks too when we say “day Rate” some people look like they have just smelled something funny. Video Production here is $125.00 hr and 400 half day and 800 – 950 full day. unless we work with our compeditors then it goes between 200/half and 400/full. pretty wimpy huh?
