Attached 1 is what I get when I am loading the ts file from my Hauppauge V7 into tsMuxer. O OK that and then get the track inputs shown in attachment 2.

When the TS file is loaded into tsMuxer, a pop-up says ‘Unsupported Format. Some tracks not recognized. This track was ignored: F:\46 Manon.ts’ But in the input Tracks box, the Manon.ts video and two Manon.ts audio files are listed and checked.

I really don’t know whst I’m talking about but tsMuxer GUI says on its About tab that it supports AC3 audio, and Mediainfo shows that the TS file I’m trying to trim has two AC3 audio streams. I don’t understand why they are not in the tsMuxer output file.

In the tsMuxer GUI I don’t know if the audio file loaded. There are 3 files in the input box, the video and two files markedC Spanish & English. The Medianinfo description of the ts folder is:

Can screen capture attachments be made to these messages?

tsMuxeR GUI chopped off the video nicely but I can’t find what it did with the audio.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I will look into them. You are right that the main purpose would be to put the opera on removeable media after trimming it to remove the extraneous part at the end of the recording (and also possibly remove interviews between the acts).

Thanks for your clear and complete answer to my question. I’m new to this – just happened to find Sony Vegas on my new laptop and it looked interesting – so I had to look up definitions of ‘NLE’ and even ‘rendering’ to understand your answer. I have a big video file -about 13Gb – which is a Metropolitan Opera TV broadcast recorded from a Hauppauge USB tuner in MPEG-2.TS format. Unforunately, the recording did not stop at the end of the opera and it is about 6 Gb too long for my use. I thought, well let’s just see if this nice looking video editor can chop it down. First I found that Vegas Studio will not work on MPEG-2.TS files so I converted it to MPEG-2 and it did work. Then I used the split function to chop it in two at the end of the opera and simply cut the unwanted part, not realizing that NLE is non-destructive. For this simple operation I want to perform, it may be preferable to get a converter with a trimming function. However, I am now thinking about other things I might do with this program and maybe an upgrade would make it possible to do the trimming and a lot of other things.
