[Timothy Kurkoski] “You can’t change the field dominance for DVD.”
That’s what I thought, and that’s why I think it’s a mistake (or at least confusing) for Encore to be set up so you to have to set the Field Dominance in the Transcode Settings window where everything else you are setting affects the output of the transcoding process. I left this out in what I said earlier, but what you set here must match the field dominance of the asset.Greg

I posted on a similar problem a few days ago with no response. But since then I got a little better at using the “search” feature here and dug a little further back in the older posts. Something Joe Bowden said was a real eye opener. You set the field dominance in Encore by editing/creating new Transcode Presets. (File>Transcode>Edit Project Transcode presets). Then you need to make sure you set or reset the Transcode Settings for each particular file. If the file has already been transcoded, you will need to “Revert to Original” before you can reset the Transcode Settings. Like you, my first thought was to look in the Interpret Footage dialog (expecting it to work like AfterEffects). Given the number of posts I’ve seen here (and elsewhere) on this subject, I think this might be a good suggestion for a UI change.

This is what I do:
1) Create an adjustment layer as the top layer in your comp.
2) Select EFFECT>ADJUST>LEVELS from the menu.
3) In the Effects control window, set Output Black to 16 and Output White to 245.Depending on what this ends up looking like, I may also adjust the input levels.
Or you could check and adjust each of your elements the same way individually.

December 7, 2005 at 9:17 pm in reply to: Pasting Illustrator path into AfterEffects while maintaining screen positionYes, I am referring Illustrator paths. No, this doesn’t help. I had no crop marks to remove. I did find a workaround, but it’s a little awkward. In the Illustrator document, I included a rectangular path that was the same size as the comp and copied and pasted both into AE. This centered the comp-sized path and put the other path in the correct position. I then deleted the comp-sized path.
I have a hard time believing this is the only way to do this, but at least for now I’m back in business.
Thanks,

October 21, 2005 at 5:18 pm in reply to: Sluggish UI after switching to MacOSX 10.2.8 And M100 8.0.1Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, a new machine is not an option. I will try the upgrades you mention, and the additional RAM. I also got a suggestion from someone offline that I use the Disk Utility to “Repair Permissions” after installing any software. I tried this and it actually did help a little.

August 29, 2005 at 6:29 am in reply to: CTI jumps to end of clip(s) when dragged/droppedIt works! Thanks for the reply. I could have sworn there was a preference somewhere that could be set.
Generally, the first thing I want to do after dropping or pasting a clip in is set its transition. But if I’ve dropped in a large clip or bunch of clips, ZAP… I’ve jumped to the end and there’s not necessarily an easy way to get back to or even find where I was.
Thanks again!

Would you mind posting a more complete explanation of how you solved this? I am experiencing a similar (but not identical) problem.
Thanks!
