I have Motion installed and a paid copy of FCPX.
Sorry, I’m not a native english speaker, what do u mean?: Gregor are FX Plugins installed normally with FCPX ?

I saw your specs but thought Chris Gordon might get something out of this.
But on the web it seems to be a regular problem with the trial, so Apple has to post a fix, I suppose.

Other possibility: you could buy Motion (I heard it was worth the money) and test your theory :=)

Do you have FX Factory Trial PlugIns installed? I had the same problem until I uninstalled these and afterwards no problems anymore….
Also maybe Console.app or the crash-report could point you to the cause.

Also FCPX captures the original date and time of capture (HDV) as metadata while FCP 7 does not. With HDV it has an automatic scene detection feature, FCP 7 only with DV.
If I could, I would recapture my footage with X, but my HC1 died :=(

Command-B is your friend, also customizable in the KeyCommands (Command-Option-K), its working regardless if u see the playhead or not …

Yes, kind of, as I suppose the build-in KenBurns works this way. What was interesting is if I could add one or two keyframes in between, as if I use the crop-tool to set additional keyframes, I don’t get no smoothing. Not really satisfying. :=)

Correct.
If so where (on the screen) does the timecode window display, and what happens if several clips have he filter on, does it only display the code under the playhead
The timecode can be placed everywhere on the screen, if you open it in Motion, you could even make it display vertically.
Yes, it displays the timecode under the playhead and even under the skimmer, simply try it.
