For the money your best bet to be able to edit almost any format, any frame rate and any acquisition, would be to purchase one of several I/O Hardware accelerators/Cards.

For instance, I am moving to HD level as well and we edit using 100% adobe production, from the new onLocation direct to disk software to Premiere CS3.

An example would be to check out AXIO LE, SD or HD systems or Conopus or AJA or Blackmagic. These piece can and will give you what you need in versatility on your project timelines, to include ingestion and exporting.

Then your Production can have less restrictions.
